Here's a photo Pete found of a Luscombe 8E. Does anyone have a photo of Jim's actual plane?
Piper owned a Luscomb 8E puddle jumper airplane while married to first wife.
One story is they crash landed at Big Bear airport because he was used to flying big jets and he had a hard time, timing the landing. The landing gear was all torn off. However, the aircraft was restored at the Marine air base in the hobby shop. We do not know when it was sold, but maybe it was traded for the Ferrari!
First wife says, Piper definitely acquired the Ferrari while they were still married, in 1962.
